The Role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to serve as a strategic finance partner to the Store Development & Capital Planning teams, overseeing capital planning and reporting processes across multiple grocery banners. This role will involve collaboration with a diverse range of business teams, including Store Development, Capital Planning, Design, Construction and Procurement, to influence strategic decision-making and empower the business to make informed capital investment decisions.

Success in the Role

A successful candidate will exhibit strong ownership, effectively navigate ambiguity, and collaborate with business partners to influence outcomes. They will prioritize high-impact projects independently and quickly build trust within the organization, supporting informed decision-making in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the P&L and be able to articulate the various movements between CapEx and Fixed Opex.

Key job responsibilities

  • Fully own the capital forecasting and reporting processes across multiple grocery banners

  • Analyze current Store Dev processes and influence key decisions across multiple investments projects

  • Contribute to highly visible planning documents (i.e.: OP1, Guidance, CAR reviews, etc.)

  • Drive accountability across business teams by building scalable mechanisms for budget management

  • Provide detailed capex and opex commentary and bridging analysis

  • Fully own key deliverables for month-end close and controllership functions.

  • Independently use financial systems (COGNOS, Coupa, OFA, Discovery, Lungo, etc.) and advanced excel functions to work with large data sets.

  • Provide support with quarterly GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) framework requirements

  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis that will influence investment decisions, while driving long-term profitability across our growing portfolio.

  • Have a proven track record of high judgment, sound decision making, ownership of complex problems and an ability to deliver results in multiple areas concurrently.

About the team

The Grocery Finance organization is dedicated to shaping the long-term strategy and future of grocery, omni-channel and new physical store formats across Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
