Hyatt Finance | Assistant Director of Finance in SEATTLE, Washington

Join us for an incredible opportunity to assist in leading our Finance team as our Assistant Director of Finance at the Hyatt at Olive 8 !

This position is mainly responsible for the oversight of the Hyatt at Olive 8's general ledger and supports the Area Director of Finance. The individual will support the Area Director of Finance in the monthly reporting process to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the business unit’s financial statements. This will include preparation of the monthly reports and key components of the financial information presented to the Leadership Committee team and Owner’s Representative each month. In addition, the individual will provide support to management, as well as, the various departments within the hotel throughout the forecast and budget process. Additionally, this person will be responsible for efficiently running the Finance department in line with Hyatt Corporate standards while meeting guest and owner expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review all journal vouchers, month-end reports and reconciliations

  • Participate in monthly financial reviews and assist Area Director of Finance with the presentation of these reports

  • Assist Area Director of Finance with supervising Finance staff to ensure team members are successfully trained to support daily operations, including coaching and counseling colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedure,interviewing, training and evaluating performance of staff.

  • Manage and help oversee hotel on-site finance functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel. This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting and cash management

  • Systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings and full P&L responsibility.

  • Assist with managing and ensuring SOX compliance

  • Assist Area Director of Finance with completing the year-end audit process. Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers. Participate in and respond to auditor requests to ensure total hotel compliance.

  • Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department staff in this process. Take initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement

  • Supports the hotel’s focus on service excellence by training to provide exceptional service to the hotel’s internal and external customers

  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative working relationships with colleagues and supports colleagues to do the same

  • Assist Area Director of Finance with special reporting and analysis projects

The salary range for this position is $76,700 - $115,300. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, including experience, qualifications, and education.

This position is eligible for additional incentive compensation based on goals set by the property's senior leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Hospitality or Finance / Accounting degree preferred

  • 2 years or more of progressive Finance / Accounting experience

  • Experience supervising team members

  • Prior Hyperion, Birchstreet, Infrasys, and Oracle expertise desired

  • Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand drives desired leadership

  • Must have excellent organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills
