The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding an Energy Engineer to our growing Energy division in Seattle, WA . The Energy Engineer will Identify and analyze Energy Efficiency Measures in existing and new commercial facilities. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

  • Quantify facility improvement measures including electrical, mechanical, control, water, wastewater, envelope, solid waste, irrigation, and lighting systems.

  • Perform calculations using modeling software, spreadsheets and utility calculation tools.

  • Perform schematic design for building mechanical and lighting systems including drawings and layout and written scope narratives.

  • Coordinate with Design team on measure feasibility, basis of design and scope of work development.

  • Prepare Project Risk Reviews for Energy Calculations prior to presenting ROM or Final savings.

  • May support performance assurance team with energy analysis in Measurement and Verification reports.

  • Support construction and commissioning teams during/after construction to solve issues related to facility improvement measures performance.

  • Work closely with the Performance Assurance Specialist in developing the Measurement and Verification Process and Protocols to be used for performance validation.

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators and key factors to be used in the Measurement and Verification Phase (in conjunction with the Performance Assurance Specialist.

  • Communicate with local utility representatives to assist in collection of utility rebates and incentives.

  • Demonstrate proficiency at writing, reviewing, and editing technical documentation.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Building Energy Analyst required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, architectural engineering, engineering or related field required.

  • Understanding of Energy Services Performance Contracting preferred.

  • Understanding of calculation methods including degree-day method, bin method, hourly simulation, lighting, affinity laws, and electrical load and power calculations required.

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, in writing and verbally required.

  • EMIT professional designation preferred.

  • CEM professional designation preferred.

  • Two (2) years Energy Auditor, Commissioning, HVAC design or building controls experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of IPMVP and FEMP requirements, financing options and utility incentives, project performance tracking and results evaluation, and energy tracking and modeling software preferred.

T he pay range for this position is $69,300 - $109,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
