REI Director, Voice of Employee in Seattle, Washington

Overview

The Director, Voice of Employee, plays a pivotal role in shaping REI's employee experience by driving initiatives that capture and examine the insights of our workforce. This strategic leadership position is accountable for building and overseeing a comprehensive Voice of Employee program, fostering a culture of engagement, and influencing HR strategy and programming based on employee feedback.

Leading the Way (team leadership, coaching and development responsibilities for this “manager of staff”)

  • Develops and communicates a vision and strategy for the Voice of Employee program

  • Provides leadership and guidance to a team accountable for gathering, researching, evaluating, and communicating employee insights

  • Champions the implementation of Co-op and HR programs, procedures, and practices that enhance the employee experience

  • Motivates, challenges, and inspires employees to contribute to a positive workplace culture and to achieve business results

  • Ensures legal and operational compliance within the Voice of Employee program

Your Planning & Navigating Requirements (the plans the job is responsible for creating and executing, and how the job ensures they are implemented)

  • Develops and executes a strategic plan for the Voice of Employee program to enhance employee engagement and inform improvements to critical stages of the employee lifecycle such as recruiting, onboarding, and retention

  • Establishes mechanisms for ongoing data collection, including surveys, focus groups, and other feedback channels

  • Serves as an advocate for employee-centricity by elevating employee voice and delivering insights through varying employee persona lenses, providing a foundation for corporate and divisional strategy development

  • Leads a team of subject matter experts to drive holistic knowledge of our workforce target, ranging from engagement to employee pulse surveys, always-on listening, and other forms of employee voice tools

  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to integrate employee insights into HR programming

  • Partners with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders to address identified trends and opportunities

  • Provides insights to senior leadership to influence strategic recommendations based on holistic workforce intelligence

  • Serves a leader on the HR Workforce Strategic Planning team, supporting the integration of Voice of Employee efforts

  • Manages the budget for the Voice of Employee program, prioritizing initiatives aligned with strategic goals

  • Identifies tools, system, data, and training needs, and drives the product management of these resources

  • Maintains all legal standards as applicable to employee data, particularly as they relate to privacy standards

  • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action

  • Stays updated on industry trends and best practices in voice of employee programs and change management, incorporating relevant insights into the company's practices

  • Upholds a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, trust, inclusivity, and respect in accordance with Co-op Way

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • BS/BA required, preferred undergraduate degree in business, HR and/or related field. Masters/MBA strongly preferred in HR / Industrial Psychology

  • 7+ years of work experience in workforce research – retail or longitudinal business model experience preferred

  • 3+ years demonstrated ability to build capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts

  • Experience in managing and using Qualtrics or other similar management/online survey software

  • Comfortable and effective interfacing with senior leadership. Strong business acumen and ability to translate business problems into workforce/analytic initiatives

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with emphasis on data visualization and storytelling. Ability to synthesize findings into succinct insights and implications, and communicate effectively to senior leadership

  • Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts

  • Creates a strong, mutually supportive work spirit and culture

  • Makes effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with the Co-op Way

  • Champions the voice of employee and advocates employee and business solutions in the Co-op’s best interest

  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities

  • Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions, considering the ultimate impact of decisions and actions

  • Challenges the status quo and fosters change to evolve the organization and culture in accordance with the Co-op’s larger mission

Pay Range

$137,500.00 - $233,900.00 per year
