Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Director of Marketing, Western Region will have overall responsibility for marketing, work acquisition, and communication support for the Irvine, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle offices. Provide oversight, support, and strategy to the regional marketing team. Partner with regional leadership to align marketing and business development, lead regional marketing priorities, ensure brand consistency throughout the region, and foster alignment with regional goals and mission. Actively participate as a member of Clark’s Marketing Leadership Team as the Western Region representative helping to set strategic direction on key marketing initiatives, promote knowledge sharing/best practices, and develop and implement processes that will contribute to overall marketing and organizational success.


  • Build a high-performing, engaged marketing team which supports and enhances the Western Region’s strategic objectives.

  • Develop, mentor, and foster the best in each marketing team member in such a way that supports the region’s business goals and establishes a culture of collaboration, open communication, and team engagement; Challenge and encourage team members on continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Coordinate and lead regional marketing meetings, performance reviews, professional development discussions, critical conversations, clearly communicating priorities and expectations to the team.

  • Drive regional work acquisition plans and ensure that all marketing content aligns and supports the Western Region’s overall business strategies.

  • Partner with regional leadership, operations, and business development to ensure the successful creation and delivery of proposal responses, qualification packages, and presentation materials.

  • Position regional marketing team to lead pursuit efforts — from pre-positioning through client presentation including developing unique content that will differentiate and create strategic positioning for Clark, establishing win strategies and value propositions, key messaging, and integration of graphics.

  • Have ultimate responsibility for quality control of all pursuit deliverables by performing interim and final quality reviews.

  • Develop and implement regional marketing initiatives, policies, and procedures in alignment with national marketing initiatives and ensure team members are trained and in alignment.

  • Help maintain company information, materials, and associated Marketing databases.

  • Build collaborative relationships with regional leadership, technical, and operations staff to facilitate team synergy and effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of demonstrated experience building and leading engaged Marketing teams that consistently exceed goals.

  • Proven history of managing and mentoring high-performing team members across various offices/geographies

  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills, and the ability to coordinate the activities of various team members when faced with multiple deadlines and competing priorities

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to understand a variety of clients, market segments, and opportunities and develop work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop strong win strategies.

  • Collaborative mindset – establish internal and external partnerships across the region by developing cross-functional relationships and working with a variety of teams and at all levels of the organization and throughout the industry.

  • Change management skills – the ability to gain stakeholder alignment via active idea sharing and see the power in intentional design across a team rather than a single point of view.

  • Experience successfully influencing senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches.

  • Creativity and resourcefulness, with the ability to execute creative ideas effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and help teams develop sound marketing, pursuit, and proposal strategies.

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior management, supervisors, colleagues, and partners.

  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people.

  • A strong eye for visualization, layout, and/or graphic design skills to facilitate appealing and effective communication using desktop publication software.

  • Creativity and resourcefulness, with the ability to execute creative ideas effectively.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.

  • Experience with Salesforce

  • MBA or Master’s degree a plus.
