UW Medical Center-Montlake's Food & Nutrition Services has multiple outstanding opportunities for temporary, DIETARY UNIT AIDES. The Food & Nutrition Services Department aims to improve the health of the community by linking evidence-based nutrition to the healthy foods we serve and to the education we provide staff, patients and the community. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivering and picking up patient meal trays and delivering individual nourishments.

  • Supplies nursing units with items for stock and tube feedings.

  • Provide basic nutritional services to patients such as distribution and pick-up of meals trays.

  • Respond to Patient, Nurse and Call Center inquiries.

  • Monitors and records nourishment refrigerator (nursing units) temperatures on a daily basis.

  • Maintains a sanitary environment. Ensures food is handled safely.

  • Ensure patient meal trays and nourishments are delivered accurately.

  • Actively contributes to the team process, maintaining a cooperative work environment.

  • Serve in a guest relations role to patients and visitors.

  • Relay patient food requests/comments to Dietetic Technicians.

  • Deliver or relay messages from nursing and other health care staff to the department.

  • Works to improve quality of services provided to the patients.

  • Other duties as necessary.

    REQUIREMENTS Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment, and one year of food service experience in a health care setting. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED

  • Ability to read and correctly interpret patient meal ticket.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to stand for 8 hours and to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain safety and sanitation standards.

  • Actively contribute to continuous quality improvement process to improve services provided to our customers and co-workers.

  • Demonstrate team skills; works cooperatively with peers.
