About This Team
Our team oversees Technology Monitoring across the Enterprise. Our responsibilities include
supporting onboarding, training, and management of our services. We collaborate with our
vendors of Splunk and Datadog to provide observability for a Technology department of over
1000 members. We drive the maturity of our Technology teams by establishing and tracking
best standards for our platforms.
We are looking for a motivated engineer to become a core member of the Observability Team,
helping guide the organization to both improve the practice and to contribute to developing
our strategy, roadmap, and execution here.
As a successful candidate for this role, you will support application teams migrating to Datadog
using APM, Infra and Serverless agents, ensuring our standards and best practices are met and
working with key stakeholders to improve our documentation, standards, and practices. Finally,
the role works with multiple internal teams, including vendor TAMs, to resolve issues and
empower our end users.
A Day in the Life:
- Support our teams with instrumentation of Datadog ensuring our onboarding process
and best practices are adopted
- Provide feedback to key stakeholders about challenges, blockers, or opportunities to
streamline the way we work
- Work with Datadog's support and TAM to resolve implementation issues
Experience:
Hands on experience with Datadog APM, Infra, serverless and RUM (Real User Metrics)
Experience in migrating app servers, Observability solution agents or rolling out mass
updates using Ansible or Terraform
- Hands on experience in implementing and configuring an Observability solution in
Kubernetes
- Experience with open-source projects such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK Stack,
Open Telemetry, and tools such as CloudWatch, AppDynamics, New Relic, Splunk, and
Dynatrace
Familiar with complex time series concepts
Familiar with high availability back-end systems and services
Must demonstrate a sense of ownership to plan, execute and drive the product
deliverables to successful completion and be successful in a collaborative environment
- Experience with agile development methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD) and
CI/CD is a plus
- Ability to think innovative and contribute to the success of the products, processes, and
customer experience
Excellent decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills
Knowledge of:
o PII / CCPA / GDPR rules
o Enterprise Single Sign-On
o Docker and Kubernetes
o Atlassian Suite tools
o Cloud Solutions
o Terraform or Ansible
Qualifications
College degree in computer science/engineering or related field
Minimum 4+ years of experience with Observability solution
Minimum 2+ years of experience with rule and advanced logic creation within Datadog,
AppDynamics, New Relic, Dynatrace, Prometheus, or another Observability tool
A proven history of delivering quality results on complex cross-functional projects
Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with a
wide variety of audiences, both business and technical
