Our team, Machine Learning Optimization, develops machine learning algorithms in high performance, petabyte-scale distributed systems. Our systems process billions of ad impressions daily from across the internet to power all of Amazon\'s advertising reporting, as well as algorithms for audience targeting, real time ad ranking and bidding, and automated campaign optimization. We are looking for a talented Data Engineer who is passionate about building data pipelines and developing novel metrics to measure business and algorithm health. In this role, you will work with scientists, engineers, and product managers on high impact initiatives in Amazon\'s Display Advertising. Key job responsibilities Major responsibilities: You will develop a deep understanding of Amazon.com Advertising\'s vast data sources and know exactly how, when, and which data to use to solve particular business problems. You will build and maintain data pipelines capable of handling hundreds of terabytes a day. You will dive deep into complex data issues in production and simulation. A day in the life Build large data volume data pipelines and developing novel analysis tool to enable the measurement of business and algorithm health. Work closely with Business Intelligence Engineer to dive deep into complex data issues in production and simulation. Collaborate with Scientists to build robust monitoring and analysis to for online experimentation. You will work with scientists, engineers, and product managers on high impact initiatives in Amazon\'s Display Advertising. About the team MLO Analytics team\'s charter is to support algorithm launch, drive product adoption, and develop and monitor system health metrics via centralizing analytics resource and infrastructure. It will reduce duplicate data processes, facilitate cross-dataset analysis, and standardize performance/pacing/ranking evaluation measurement. 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines Experience in SQL Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Spark, EMR, Presto, etc.) Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing Proficiency in, at least, one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, NodeJS, Java, or Scala Experience dealing with large databases Experience in processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities (Millions to Billions of rows) of data Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment Experience working with advertising, retail, or e-commerce data Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
