Harborview Medical Center Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Behavioral Health

Join Harborview's outstanding PDNE (Professional Development and Nursing Excellence) dept.

The CNE for Behavioral Health (CNE for BH) supports the inpatients units with behavioral health needs.

Covers behavioral health support with patients and staff, care coordination, workplace violence prevention, restraint education, and supporting PDNE programs and initiatives.

The BH CNE is essential to supporting staff and patients in addressing and caring for behavioral health needs and workplace violence prevention.

• Support the Psychiatric Consult Liaison Service with planning and nursing care guidelines. • Assist staff in behavioral care planning and nursing care guidelines. • Assist with multidisciplinary care coordination, focusing on patient goals and discharge readiness. • Follow up after Code Grey events to support staff and patients. • Provide just-in-time education and support to staff. • Coordinate care plans with unit-based leadership. • Provide unit-based training or facilitate discussions. • Support Workplace Violence Prevention trainings, workgroups, committees, and initiatives. • Conduct, manage, and develop Workplace Violence Prevention trainings. • Conduct, manage, and develop behavioral health-related trainings and classes. • Participate in the BARC Committee. • Provide restraint training and education. • Monitor and manage restraint issues, including usage, documentation, data collection, and analysis • Support PDNE programs such as onboarding new staff, the Nurse Residency Program, & skills days. • Assist PDNE with departmental initiatives and other assigned duties as they arise.

Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. • Licensed to practice registered nursing in Washington state (or applicable multistate RN license). • 5 years of experience in the behavioral health field or experience in behavioral health education. • Demonstrated ability to analyze practice issues and implement meaningful improvements. • Demonstrated ability to develop, teach, and evaluate education and training offerings. • Demonstrated ability to work productively within a multidisciplinary group setting. • Advanced written and verbal communication skills. • Ability and flexibility to meet workload demands with multiple and competing priorities; some evening and night shift work required. • Proficiency in Microsoft platforms: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Desired: • Experience in the treatment of substance abuse/dependence. • Experience working in acute care, intensive care, or academic setting. • Knowledge of local behavioral health resources. • Experience in caring for complex patients with psychiatric diagnoses. • Experience in conducting research, clinical inquiry, and EBP projects. • Experience with the shared governance model of nursing practice. • Master's degree in Nursing, PhD, or DNP. • Master's degree in a Behavioral Health field, PhD, or DNP.
