SUMMARY OF POSITION: This senior leader is responsible for the overall leadership of Seattle Social Services, including vision casting, leadership and management oversight, program direction, strategic planning, operational well-being, funding management, relationship with Advisory Board and civic partners, and alignment of marketing and communications strategies. The Chief Operations Director is the primary leader of Seattle Social Services and is responsible for professional leadership and the operations of: Social Services Programs, Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Facilities. The Executive Director is responsible for safeguarding the operational wellbeing of Seattle Social Services as it aligns with The Salvation Army's mission and organizational policies, and the Northwest Division directives. The Executive Director is responsible for the appropriate use and protection of assets and careful stewardship of resources. Essential Job Duties VISION AND STRATEGIC PLANNING Establish and implement the goals, objectives, and vision of Seattle Social Services with the support of the leadership team and Divisional review. BOARD RELATIONS Work closely with the Advisory Board, including informing, educating, communicating, seeking guidance; facilitating and attending all board meetings; work with the Board in setting and reviewing policies; and developing and selecting potential new board members. FUNDRAISING AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with prospective and current civic work and contracts, major donors, working directly with the Divisional development team. Attend outside meetings and events related to fundraising, networking, and public/community relations, occasionally after business hours and/or on weekends. STAFF CULTURE Promote and maintain a healthy organizational culture and regularly assess status. Champion the vision, mission, and core values, including a culture of safety, of Seattle Social Services and The Salvation Army. LEADERSHIP TEAM DEVELOPMENT Manage, support, facilitate, and review the work of leadership team members by equipping, encouraging, evaluating, and empowering them in their specific areas of responsibility. Set and/or collaborate with leadership to establish goals for departments. Uphold accountability across the unit. PUBLIC RELATIONS AND ADVOCACY Function as a key spokesperson and public face for Seattle Social Services in coordination with the Divisional Development and Communications team. Interact with other stakeholders, local government officials, partners, churches, civic groups, and the press and other media. BUDGET, FACILITIES, AND OTHER RESOURCES Develop and submit an annual budget that is tied to the strategic plan; adhere to the budget; and protect, acquire, and develop any and all assets/facilities to accomplish the mission and strategy.
