Facebook Associate General Counsel, Product in Seattle, Washington

Summary:

Facebook seeks a highly motivated attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives to join Facebook’s product counseling legal team. This role will focus on supporting Facebook’s products and experiences, and it will require significant cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal subject matter experts. This is an opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment, as we build and scale for our global community.

Required Skills:

  1. Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions

  2. Provide and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, e-commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks applicable to the product you are supporting

  3. Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze and communicate legal risks to the business

  4. Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar

  2. 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)

  3. Experience working independently and cross-functionally

  4. Experience working on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment

  5. Proven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in a product counsel role building and supporting products

  2. Experience counseling in privacy, data protection, and consumer protection laws

  3. In-house experience at a technology company

  4. Privacy experience
