Seattle Children’s Hospital Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) - CV Surgery/OR First Assist in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with pediatric cardiac or operating room experience to join our first assist team along with our 4 cardiac surgeons and current first assist. This role will be focused in the OR to support our large regional surgical program and 2 cardiac operating rooms. We perform over 500 cases a year and have a nationally recognized ECMO program. The APP will cover one weekend a month on call duties and will be supported to pursue QI or research activities. First Assist Duties for cardiac surgical procedures. Provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for clinical management of patients in ambulatory, operating room, emergency department, and inpatient settings. Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, perform procedures, and develop treatment plans. Participate in the consent process. Assist with cardiac transplant organ procurement. Direct or participate in case management and continuing care. Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care. Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team. Requirements: Required Education/Experience: - For NPs: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program - For NPs in the critical care role: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in acute care - For NPs in the psychiatric inpatient role: Master's degree as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - For PAs: Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program Required Credentials: For NPs: - Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington - Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner For PAs: - Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington - Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants For All Providers: - Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration - Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals. -Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification. - Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintined in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuousy thorughout employment. - Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's. Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies. Preferred: - Two years experience in advanced practice provider role - Two years experience in pediatric health care pediatric health care. Min to Max Hourly Salary: $60.36 - $88.77 /hr Min to Max Annual Salary: $125,544.00 - $184,640.00 /yr
