Robert Half Staff Accountant in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Description

We are offering a contract to hire opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As a crucial part of our team, you will perform comprehensive accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger. This role is within the industry of accounting and finance, where you will be tasked with ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial transactions and reports.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting detailed review and approval of grant-related expenditures prior to payment issuance

• Assisting with financial oversight post-award process of grants, including monitoring and providing updates on budget and grant spending activity

• Executing monthly invoicing for reimbursement-based grant expenditures

• Carrying out regular reconciliation of grants-related accounts as part of the monthly financial closing process

• Collaborating with other departments for the preparation of invoices for reimbursement of expenditures

• Coordinating with the Financial Analyst to initiate grant-related employee full-time equivalent (FTE) allocations changes

• Processing periodic drawdowns of awarded grant funding from governmental Payment Management Systems (PMS) database

• Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports and statements for management review

• Handling Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, and General Ledger tasks

• Overseeing month-end close processes and Journal Entries.

Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations

• Strong capability to perform Bank Reconciliations

• Expertise in managing General Ledger

• Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Experience in performing Month End Close processes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
