Robert Half Staff Accountant in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant based in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The selected candidate will be primarily tasked with managing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Process and monitor grant-related expenditures, ensuring they are accurately coded and approved before payments are generated

• Invoice for reimbursement-based grant expenditures on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations

• Regularly review budget and grant spending activities, providing timely updates and analysis to the relevant stakeholders

• Conduct monthly reconciliations of grant-related accounts to the general ledger trial balance, contributing to the monthly financial closing process

• Initiate changes in grant-related employee full-time equivalent (FTE) allocations based on instructions from relevant stakeholders

• Perform periodic drawdowns of awarded grant funding from governmental Payment Management Systems database

• Collaborate with relevant teams to prepare invoices for reimbursement of expenditures, adjusting as necessary to ensure accuracy

• Assist in general accounting and other financial activities to support the preparation and completion of financial statements and reports for management review and decision making. Requirements

• Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential.

• Must have experience performing Bank Reconciliations.

• Proficiency in handling General Ledger is a requirement.

• The candidate should be competent in making Journal Entries.

• Experience in Month End Close process is a must.

• Should possess strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and accounting software.
