DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Health Care Nurse Surveyor, you will be responsible for performing professional assignments to evaluate compliance with state and federal regulations that pertain to long-term care health care providers and facilities. You will evaluate the quality of care provided to residents in these facilities, and investigate complaints relative to the quality of care, quality of life, and services provided. You will perform your work through the application of knowledge, established methods, practices, procedures, policies, and regulations related to the various professional disciplines in the health care field. You may be assigned to function independently, with a partner, as a member of a team, or as the designated team coordinator during on site surveys.

This position requires irregular work hours. Frequent travel within Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Columbia, Schuylkill, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Montour, Wyoming, and Carbon counties is a requirement of this position. You will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours. Statewide travel, overnight travel and flexible work hours are required in order to accommodate state and federal mandates. The work requires irregular work hours to meet departmental needs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton. However, due to the volume of travel required, telework may not be available for this position. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire. All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
