Robert Half Assistant Controller in Scranton, Pennsylvania
Description Identify issues and resolve problems in this stimulating Assistant Controller position. This role would be best suited for candidates who consider themselves a self-starter. As the Assistant Controller, you will oversee the day to day of the accounting staff and send reports to the Controller. Responsibilities
Promote accountability and the meeting of deliverables
Guide the accounting team during the closing process to arrange that deadlines are met
Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
Discern and establish process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency
Deliver regular account reconciliation to completion
Additional duties as assigned
Backfill for Controller as provided
Inspect and make Ad Hoc financial reports
Draw up numerous procedures, policies, and technical accounting analyses
Exceptional preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits
Develop relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like the monthly flash report, actual spend against budgets/outlook, and key financial metrics
Support to ensure a competent, trained staff through development, regular assessment, and goal setting
Sustain implementation and secure adherence to accounting policies and procedures Requirements - Prior accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Complete knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
General ledger experience desired
Proficiency in Vendor Payment
Journal entries experience preferred
Bank reconciliations experience
Deep technical background in public accounting (GAAP)
CPA certification a plus
5+ years of general ledger accounting experience
Be able to prioritize workload and perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
