DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Accountant 2 position, you will make independent decisions regarding reconciliation of financial data, output format, and in-depth financial analysis. Work involves preparing financial statements and reports, maintaining and updating the automated general ledger system, performing testing of SWIF's insurance accounting systems, and assisting with training new employees. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues, other commonwealth agencies, and outside parties to resolve accounting questions and issues. Attention to detail is essential as you will have the opportunity to aid in the research, development, and implementation of accounting practices and provide recommendations to management.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Accountant 1; or Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
