JOB SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, the LOA ADA Specialist provides benefit plan interpretation, guidance, and counsel to Cadence Education employees. This position also works with the Leave Management company to track employee Family Medical Leaves (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities (ADA), light duty and reduced work schedules. Files workers compensation claims, administers claims related to student accidents, and coordinates employee light duty for employees returning to work with restrictions and/or a reduced work schedule. The Benefits Specialist performs duties involving employee communications, verifying information, and responding to routine questions on Company benefit guidelines, policy and procedure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Assists employees in understanding the company’s benefits offerings and acts as a liaison between the organization and third-party benefits providers.
Conducts orientation or enrollment meetings, advises on eligibility, costs, and coverage, and provides information for use in memos, presentations, or other benefits communications. Provides guidance during claims or enrollment processes.
Serves as a subject matter expert and general resource. Provides information to employees requesting all types of absence, including but not limited to, Family Medical Leave (FMLA) Short Term Disability (STD), Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Workers Compensation Claims and Student Accidents. This includes referring employees to the leave management company for leave processing.
Tracks new and existing leaves using the leave management tool. Updates leave status in the HR payroll system and leave management spreadsheet daily. Monitors employee absences for trends and reports trends to HR Operations and employee leaders.
Interprets regulations, compiles reports and statistics, and provides support to employees, employers, healthcare personnel, attorneys, and insurance companies.
Maintains an understanding of Federal and States FMLA and ADA laws and regulations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Coordination of the interactive ADA process with employees from start to finish; including collecting all necessary paperwork and Doctor's recommendations.
Requires knowledge and understanding of employee benefits principles, practices, procedures, and documentation preferably as it relates to Cadence Education.
Must have knowledge of open enrollment systems and procedures, ability to analyze and develop creative solutions to complex benefits issues, and knowledge of billing and collection procedures.
Must have a working knowledge of disability, FMLA, workers’ compensation, ADA, and other leave related areas.
Must have ability to communicate effectively and develop positive working relationships with both internal and external vendors and customers.
Must have ability to communicate complex data and ideas through writing and speaking.
Must possess decision making skills, problem solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills and can plan, organize and complete projects within assigned timeframes.
Must have the ability to deal professionally with a wide diversity of people ranging from patients to high-level officials and administrative staff.
Requires strong computer skills in a Windows based environment including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Must have demonstrated maturity in dealing with different level of employees in a fast-paced environment and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
Education or equivalency:
Requires an associate degree in Human Resources or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
Experience:
Must have minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible benefits administration experience that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Prefer experience supporting a high-volume customer base within an educational setting.
