Eng Technician, Product Analysis, Scotts

Job Summary:

In this role, you will perform technical tasks within a biohazard laboratory setting to analyze and test the electro-mechanical functionality of West drug-delivery devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses critical thinking skills to analyze field failures to identify the root cause and documents findings per procedures.

  • Uses software tools (Salesforce, MasterControl, Microsoft Office Suite) to document and manage investigations.

  • Complies with site and enterprise safety procedures when handling biohazard materials/components and potent drug compounds.

  • Uses strong technical writing skills to communicate findings in a technical, concise, and effective manner.

  • Is proficient in laboratory test equipment operation and maintenance including but not limited to: Instron, CT scanner, oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, analytical balance, microscopes.

  • Is familiar with and utilizes a variety of root cause analysis methodologies to assess technical problems.

  • Identifies and resolves potential safety hazards. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment.

  • Exercises creativity in developing new test / debugging methods.

  • Uses ability as a skilled specialist to complete technical tasks in creative and effective ways.

  • Takes immediate action after identifying critical product issues. Assists with corrective action when necessary. Contacts appropriate support and/or management to ensure issues are reported and resolved.

  • Demonstrates a “Customer Service” approach to all activities and assignments.

  • Facilitates teamwork, cross training, and collaboration between departments to maximize processes and resolve problems.

  • Focuses on quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.

  • Is able to easily adapt to changes in priorities and can work independently to investigate complaints.

  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.

  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.

  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance .

  • May be asked to occasionally support product sample builds and testing in the R&D lab.

  • Willing to support other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of High School or equivalent

  • Experience: 0-3 years of experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Education: Associates Degree or higher, basic electronic training (AET or military)

  • Experience: Preferred technical experience in analysis of electro-mechanical medical devices

  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description

  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target

  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times

  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.

  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from offices and building sites.

  • If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues. Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet.

  • The ability to lift and carry various items up to 50 pounds for manufacturing positions or 30 pounds for administrative positions as required.

  • Handling of biohazard materials/components and potent drug compounds.
