H&K Group, Inc. is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Technician to join our team! The EHS Technician will work with the Engineering and Environmental Services Division, and Safety Department, for the implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance programs, as well as conducting field work in support of company projects and consultation services. This position provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a broad range of technical areas within the environmental health and safety industry.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conducts field sampling of soil, water, and waste materials for laboratory analysis. Assists with the preparation of documents, forms, and reports related to field observations and laboratory results and compares them to relevant regulatory standards.

``` - * Conducts National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) discharge water sampling and assists with regulatory reporting and permit applications.

``` - * Assists in the development, monitoring and implementation of comprehensive Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Preparedness, Prevention and Contingency (PPC) Plans.

``` - * Completes annual reporting related to Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and Residual Waste (26R) for H&K Group, Inc. facilities.

``` - * Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of hazard communications program(s) designed to inform and protect the employees, public and the environment of risks associated with products, materials, and chemicals utilized in the workplace.

``` - * Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of the company hazard communication program, collects and reviews safety data sheets (SDS) for all materials and chemicals maintained or utilized at H&K facilities. Assists with the development and provision of task specific training related to hazard communication.

``` - * Conducts environmental monitoring, including noise, dust, silica, lead and asbestos. Completes monitoring reports and works with H&K personnel to reduce employee exposures, as needed.

``` - * Performs facility and job site inspections, collecting objective data and field samples to determine if corrective actions are needed related to silica, lead, and other workplace products and chemicals.

``` - * Provides technical assistance in the event of a spill or release of a regulated substance; identifies potential pollutant sources, determines potential impacts and liabilities, and recommends and assists in the implementation of corrective actions. - * Performs all work according to MSHA/OSHA and H&K safety policies.

``` - * Maintains working knowledge of new technologies, practices, standards, and regulations developed by industry an regulatory sources.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the environmental health and safety, physical sciences, or other relevant programs with a focus on environment, health, and safety. OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training a plus.

       

Language Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customer contacts and coworkers.

       

Mathematical Skills

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

       

Reasoning Ability
