Canalis Restaurant Prep cook/Line Cook in Schenectady, New York

Come join our team here at Canali's Restaurant and work in a fast paced friendly environment. We are looking for a hard working, enthusiastic employee for a day time prep person and evening line cook. Position could also include both jobs if wanted.Preparation: Line cooks must prepare the ingredients and cooking tools they need before service begins. Ingredients should be portioned for dishes and counted properly to prevent any shortages during dinner service. Cooking tools should be cleaned and conveniently positioned within the station. ‍Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations‍Cooking: Line cooks must cook dishes according to standardized recipes and specifications for their station. Depending on which station they’re assigned to, they could be grilling, sautéing, frying, or more. Plating: Some line cooks are responsible for plating dishes — the final touch before it’s delivered to the customer. *Communication: Line cooks must communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to coordinate timing and sharing updates. Open communication helps to facilitate a smooth and more efficient workflow.Cleanliness and Food Safety Compliance: Line cooks are expected to maintain a clean and organized station to meet hygiene standards. Food safety protocols should be followed diligently to prevent any contamination and meet food safety standards and regulations. Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking stations and storing food and equipment at the end of shifts.*Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, and hearMust be able to constantly stand and walk for extended periods of time, at least 8 hours, and traverse all parts of the restaurant quicklyMust be able to lift, handle, and carry (e.g. food, small wares, equipment, supplies and paper goods) at a minimum of 50 poundsMust be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and squat on a frequent basisMust be able to taste, be able to distinguish between and among flavors, spices, and scents as to their appeal and level of intensity for all food and beverage productsMust be able to read recipe books, guides, measuring equipment, scales, kitchen monitors, and receipt printersMust be able to understand basic kitchen commands and training

Minimum Salary: 16.00 Maximum Salary: 22.00 Salary Unit: Hourly
