Annual Salary Range: $108,360 - $152,566

*Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Job Summary

As a Model-Based Systems Engineer at BPMI, you will support Digital Transformation initiatives across the organization and at key suppliers. This individual will support progress on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), development of virtual simulations of real-world entities, system requirements and architecture modeling, a transition towards both digitally captured requirements and product verification in virtual environments, as well as technical coaching / training both internally and at suppliers. A qualified candidate will bring MBSE experience to collaborate across diverse engineering teams in various organizations and across the product lifecycle from proposal through product development, delivery and sustainment.

Essential Duties:

  • Support the Systems Engineering Digital Transformation initiatives across the organization and within the Industrial Base.
  • Understand and improve the state of preparedness for each department with respect to Digital Engineering and Systems Engineering, including modeling specification and review.
  • Coach, as needed, in the execution of projects using MBSE and specialized tools.
  • Collaborate with identified department project stakeholders to create system models that accurately document the requirements and performance.
  • Assist with the review and disposition of supplier generated models for compliance with standards/requirements and compatibility with other system/sub-system models.
  • Provide Systems Engineering expertise via consultation and training to BPMI departments and Tier-1 suppliers as departments determine the needs.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 9 years of industry experience.
  • Experience in digital engineering technologies with an understanding of the processes and tools available to create virtual representations of physical systems (models).
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 4+ years of systems engineering experience in an aerospace or defense industry position.
  • Master's Degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience implementing MBSE projects and developing SysML models.
  • Experience with Modeling & Simulation tools such as Simulink and MATLAB.
  • Experience with the development of new products that have electrical, mechanical, and software content.
  • Experience with cyber-physical (hardware & software) modeling solutions.
  • Experience in an Agile modeling environment.
  • Experience leveraging systems engineering expertise in presentations and training others.
  • Experience collaborating on teams across companies to achieve a common objective.
