Union College Acquisitions Specialist Temporary in Schenectady, New York
The Acquisitions Specialist orders items from Amazon based on faculty recommendations, checks in material as they arrive, and fully processes records in Alma and Workday. Also receives and processes standing orders.

Supervisor: Head of Acquisitions Services and E-Resources Management
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Monitor the library services platform (Alma) and acquisitions email for faculty purchase requests.
Receive materials, prepare for cataloging, and update records in Alma and Workday.
Receive and process standing orders as they arrive.
Determine availability and best source for purchases.
Place orders on Amazon (via Workday punch-out) or from other vendor sites.
Create and edit Alma and Workday records for purchased items.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree with some coursework in Business and/or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Demonstrated familiarity with computerized databases, data entry, and a variety of computer software programs required.
Library background, and acquisitions experience are highly desirable.
Ability to perform detailed work accurately and work independently after initial training.
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines consistently.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, utilize varied computer systems, and adapt to constant changes in the technological environment.
Ability to exercise judgment, show initiative, and engage in problem solving when faced with anomalous data or changing routines.
Ability to build and be an effective member of a working team.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Familiarity with OCLC, Alma, MS Office, and Google Apps desirable.
Knowledge of one or more foreign languages desirable.
Mental agility with new procedures and technology, and an ability to comply with standards compliance while demonstrating initiative will characterize successful applicants and position holders.
Compensation:
The rate for this position is $21.00 an hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
