DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a professional civil engineering position with the working title of Assistant Regional Engineer. The primary responsibilities are to provide engineering services and consultation to the regional park and forestry personnel in the development and completion of maintenance and construction projects. This involves reviewing, performing, and directing the design and construction management of complex civil and structural engineering projects such as the renovation or rehabilitation of bridges, buildings, roads, dams, marinas, retaining walls, storage tanks, water and wastewater treatment plants, pools, campgrounds, bike trails, and similar facilities of various complexity.

The regional engineer assigns the work for completion. The staff engineer is actively involved in several projects at any one time. He generally works independently and may occasionally assist the regional engineer. The regional engineer assigns various components of the work to the staff engineer with a fairly detailed description of the scope and objectives, along with general instructions and suggestions. All work is reviewed by the regional engineer to ensure that the bureau's requirements are met. Assistance is given by the regional engineer if necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Schellsburg. In order to visit project sites, extensive driving is required, to varying degrees, as project sites, continuously change, but all are located throughout south central PA. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
