Job Description:

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for traveling to customer sites for project commissioning and installation, utilizing advanced knowledge of electrical theory and principles of operation. You will produce logic for custom automation equipment, create HMIs, specify various control components, and perform high-level troubleshooting. This role offers a unique opportunity to take full ownership of your designs while working in a collaborative small team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Travel to customer sites for project commissioning and installation (10-20% travel required).

• Produce logic for custom automation equipment using Rockwell's Studio5000 design software.

• Create HMIs for custom automation equipment using FactoryTalk View and Ignition platforms.

• Specify PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, motors, drives, sensors, and vision sensors based on customer standards and scope of work.

• Occasionally produce electrical drawings using AutoCAD software.

• Generate quotations for custom industrial automation applications and oversee projects until installation and commissioning.

• Assess, identify, and modify PLC logic and HMI programs to improve equipment and system performance.

• Perform high-level troubleshooting and critical thinking to solve electrical, mechanical, or process problems.

Essential Skills:

• 8+ years of experience designing, installing, troubleshooting, modifying, and maintaining control systems in a heavily automated industrial environment.

• Strong experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs.

• Extensive experience working with servos, motors, and time drives.

• BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (preferred, not required).

Work Environment:

The work environment includes an office setup with desks and standard office equipment, as well as a panel shop, machine shop, and fabrication shop. The role involves hands-on work with equipment and physical products. There is a travel aspect, with 20-25% domestic travel to customer sites within the US as needed. The team works four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with opportunities for overtime hours

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
