Colonial Group Inc Facility Maintenance Tech (Facilities Maintenance Technician) in Savannah, Georgia

As a Facility Maintenance Technician at Colonial Group, Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to perform general and detailed maintenance tasks to maintain the functionality, safety, and appearance of our facilities.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Your keen attention to detail will be essential as you conduct regular inspections and identify areas needing repair or improvement.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with other members of the maintenance team to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient operations. Additionally, you may assist in coordinating with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.

To excel in this position, you should have a strong understanding of building systems and maintenance practices, along with the ability to use various tools and equipment safely and effectively. Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance issues will be invaluable as you respond to emergencies and address maintenance requests promptly.

Job Duties:

  • Provide general support to Maintenance and Facilities Manager
  • Assist in documenting processes, procedures, scheduled maintenance, etc.
  • Performs routine maintenance around the building - utilizes tools, materials, and equipment related to assigned area of responsibility to assist with technical repairs and performs simple repairs such as:
    • Changing lightbulbs
    • Repair door locks, closures, handles, etc.
    • Plumbing repairs
      • Unclogging drains/ Keep Roof Drains Clean
      • Repair leaking faucets and toilets
    • Hanging items on walls such as whiteboards, artwork, etc.
    • Operate trash compactor
    • Litter pickup throughout property
  • Perform mechanical and safety inspections
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies
  • Respond to emergency repairs and clean-ups
  • Provide assistance moving larger items within the building
  • Forklift operation
  • Perform scheduled maintenance
  • Basic HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical experience
  • Daily operations and maintenance of the building
  • Work with maintenance team to manage work order system and ensure open work orders are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Manage 3^rd^ party vendors needed for scopes of work that cannot be performed internally.

This person would be on call 24/7 and would be expected to travel to the building if an issue cannot be resolved remotely.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification or technical school education in an industrial or mechanical field is preferred.
  • 1+ year professional experience operating heavy equipment such as forklift, backhoe and/or tractors.
  • Experience in the proper usage and care of hand and power tools.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
