Accounting Assistant
Full Time | Day Shift | 8am-4:30pm | Monday-Friday
* Pay rate between $19-21/hour * (based on experience)

What will I do as an Accounting Assistant for The Wesley Community?
Complete monthly reconciliations (i.e. bank accounts, investment accounts and payroll reconciliations).
Assists in posting of payroll and associated journal entries (i.e., salary and vacation accruals).
Assist Controller with inputting depreciation of fixed assets into accounting system.
Perform bi-weekly billing of Wesley Senior Solutions services.
Prepare and record general ledger entries as necessary.
Perform accounts payable functions, including but not limited to training and assisting Business Office Clerk on accounts payable data entry and check processing.
Maintain appropriate cash balances in bank accounts to ensure accounts will not be overdrawn.
Assist Controller with variance analyses and financial statements for Wesley Health Care Center, Woodlawn Apartments, Embury Apartments, Embury Associates, United Methodist Health and Housing, and Wesley Senior Solutions.
Reconcile patient trust and security deposit accounts on a monthly basis. Prepare related interest and charge worksheets and enter in Microsoft GP and MyUnity/Point Click Care. Perform transfers as needed to ensure accounts are properly funded.
Perform financial modeling and assist with computer troubleshooting, as needed.
Assist in completion of Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports.
Assist the Controller with budget and audit preparation.
Complete other financial projects as assigned by the Controller, CFO and/or Administrator.
Assist in completion of statistical reports including, but not limited to, tracking of energy usage and costs on a monthly basis and maintain Utility Analysis spreadsheet.
Assist Resident Financial Services Manager (RFSM) with accounts receivable projects including reducing open A/R (i.e. monthly reconciliation of outstanding Hospice balances)
Assist RFSM with preparation of reports (e.g. Days By Payor report, etc.)
Accounting Assistant Requirements :
High School Diploma.
Two-Year College education majoring in Accounting or related field, or with relevant work experience.
Sound knowledge of accounting, preferably with health care experience.
Familiarity with 3rd Party Billing and / or Accounts Payable preferred.
Significant computer experience including Microsoft Office Suite a must, in particular Microsoft Excel.
Should have working knowledge of a computerized general accounting system.
