Sarasota County Government Senior Administrative Specialist- Public Works in Sarasota, Florida

Are you an administrative guru who is great at providing terrific customer service and supporting the Public Works teams? As a Senior Administrative Specialist, you will provide day-to-day, high-level administrative support for the Director of Public Works, County Engineers, and Senior Transportation Manager, and support multiple divisions within the department.   • Assist with preparing, originating, entering, tracking, and processing electronic Board agenda items or assignments through eGenda.

  • Assist with briefing meetings with the Board of County Commissioners and prepare briefing documents for the department.

  • Interpret and apply complex principles, policies, and practices to provide information to the Director as appropriate.

  • Implements ordinances and resolutions.

  • Manage and support the Public Works team with setting up interviews, training, composing letters and memos, manage all Luid organization charts.

  • Support and coordinate major initiatives and board priorities.

  • Liaison with HR for Public Works.

  • Manage and track performance measures and action items.

  • Problem solves through interactions with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Prepare associated agenda/information packets or presentations.

  • Lead and coordinate special projects.

  • P-Card holder for general office needs and monthly reconciliation.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or related field.

  • Four (4) years of experience in administrative experience with some executive exposure.

  • -OR- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or related field AND two (2) years of experience in administrative experience with some executive exposure.

  • -OR- Six (6) years of experience in administrative experience with some executive exposure and managers discretion.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Professional Certification.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Range: $23.33 - $25.00, based on experience.
