Summary

The Project Manager is a key role, responsible for coordinating all activities within the Building Inspection Department, including project documentation management, communication with clients, field inspectors, engineers, and various municipalities. This position will be responsible for supervising all permitting and plan review activity in the department, ensuring that all required reports and documents are compiled, updated, and maintained for a complete Certificate of Compliance package upon project completion. Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Lifting and/or moving up to thirty-five pounds regularly is expected, and up to seventy-five pounds on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles.

  • This job occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.

  • This is not a remote position. This job will be based in the selected job posting location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement standardized processes for processing permits and plan review

  • Maintain seamless communication with clients, owners, contractors, and stakeholders regarding the opening and closing of projects

  • Attend preconstruction and on-site meetings with clients and municipalities to ensure compliance

  • Obtain documents from clients to facilitate the permit application process

  • Obtain all required approvals for permits and act as the primary liaison between the company, client, and each municipality

  • Prepare and submit applications to various agencies/boards that have jurisdiction over required permits and/or approvals

  • Review plans issued out of the department for correct revision dates and review start packages for accuracy

  • Collaborate with external consultants to coordinate paperwork and applications as necessary

  • Submit, distribute, and file paperwork and enter data for various permits, such as building, standard plans, plan changes, and closeout documents

  • Maintain all company files relating to permit applications, approvals, licenses, issued permits, and closeout documents

  • Foster a strong working relationship with various municipalities to ensure timely permit processing

  • Coordinate project activities and billing with Project Coordinators and/or Administrative Assistants and/or Office Manager

  • Regular attendance is required

  • Follows safety procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s

  • License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role

  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)

  • Experience in permitting and plan review processes,

  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency

  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) products

  • Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients

  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports

  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in permit processing at an architecture, engineering or construction firm, or a municipal service provider is preferred.

  • Five years of permitting processing experience

  • Previous experience with Deltek Vision

  • Certified ICC Permit Technician
