Our Legacy Trail is in need of a Parks Crew Leader to help coordinate and oversee an assigned crew, ensuring routine maintenance and quality inspections of designated locations. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in working with the public, can work independently, and is experienced with small equipment/engine operation and maintenance (e.g., mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws). This position starts out paying $22.62/hr (Step 01), benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are numerous opportunities for advancement. About the Position

This is work participating in and assisting the Supervisor with the coordination of landscape maintenance and related work primarily along the Legacy Trail, trail connectors, and trailheads with a staff comprised of any combination of Skilled Trades Worker I’s or II’s and Trades Workers, Compliance Maintenance Specialists, and contractual staff. Additional responsibilities are found below.

  • Coordinate and oversee the daily work activities of your assigned crew, responsible for providing maintenance support for the Legacy Trail, trailheads, and all trail connectors. This includes landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, weed eating, edging, blowing, and spraying.

  • As needed will s upport RNP crews on their routes.

  • Operate light automotive equipment, light landscape equipment, and hand tools.

  • Ensure specific maintenance and/or repair is completed in accordance with work orders, in a timely manner, and in compliance with standards of quality and safety.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and quality inspections of assigned locations including turf areas, landscape beds, irrigation systems, and common areas.

  • Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) guidelines in accordance with Federal, State and County regulations.

  • Provides polite, friendly, and accurate customer service.

  • Coordinate with all vendors or outside maintenance contractors related to landscape maintenance work in your assigned locations.

  • Regularly meet, update, and coordinate with our Natural Areas and Trails staff regarding maintenance of the Legacy Trail, trailheads, and trail connectors.

  • Daily record and compile data, including materials management, using manual or computerized devices to create and complete work orders and maintenance records.

  • Manage multiple work orders at the same time, ensuring completion in a timely fashion.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

  • Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent.

  • One year of parks and recreation maintenance operation experience, landscape maintenance, or related experience.

  • Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.

  • Turf and Ornamental Spray License -OR- the ability to complete training and receive the license within six (6) months, post-hire date ( we can help with this! ).

    Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Physical Demands: Employees in this position must occasionally lift and/or move 20 lbs.

Starting Pay: $22.62/hr (Step 1)
