Williams Parker Labor & Employment Attorney with Experience in Sarasota, Florida

Williams Parker, the region's largest and oldest law firm founded in 1925, is seeking a senior Labor & Employment Attorney with 5-10 years of experience and a portable book of business to join our dynamic team in Sarasota, Florida. Whether you are already licensed to practice law in Florida - or planning to relocate and willing to sit for the Florida Bar in the near future - you are encouraged to apply.

As a Labor & Employment Attorney with Williams Parker, you will represent public and private employers of all sizes. You will represent clients in federal and state courts, as well as before federal, state, and local administrative agencies. You will also assist clients with risk management and workplace policies, helping employers avoid claims and minimize litigation by providing preventive daily advice, periodic formal training, employment audits, and training seminars to educate clients about human resource issues. You will help managers with difficult hiring, discipline, layoff, and termination issues; respond to internal complaints; and help clients traverse high-risk situations.

Requirements

  • Portable book of business

  • 5-10 years of experience in the following areas highly preferred: ADA, affirmative action, arbitration, class action, counseling, e-discovery, EEOC, employee benefits, ERISA, FLSA, immigration, investigations, labor relations, litigation, NLRB, OSHA, Title VII, wage & hour, and whistleblower

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft, negotiate, and interpret a variety of documents; effectively build relationships with others; and convey complex concepts in a concise and understandable manner

  • Enthusiastic attitude with demonstrated initiative, reliability, and an exceptional drive for results

  • Ability to work independently and under tight timelines, and to plan and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Dedication to client service excellence in a fast-paced, collegial, and engaging environment.

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Member of the Florida Bar, in good standing

  • Florida Bar Board Certification in relevant area, preferred
