Sarasota County Government Compliance Maintenance Inspector in Sarasota, Florida

Are you experienced in working with contractors with an eye for compliance and regulations and enjoy working with your hands? Sarasota County is currently recruiting for a Compliance Maintenance Inspector. The primary job functions are conducting continuous inspections of contractual maintenance services, street sweeping, roadside mowing, and hand-clearing of canals, ponds, and lakes.

This position starts out paying between $21.63 - $22.50, based on experience, and benefits start within 60 days of hire.   • Inspect the work performed by the vendor for quality and completion based on schedules and performance standards of the contract.

  • Prepare and maintain inspection documentation for daily inspections.

  • Document and report vendor performance utilizing a work management system, and advise the vendor of deficiencies in quality of work with recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Assist with verification that payment requests match work that has been satisfactorily completed in a billing period.

  • Monitor safety requirements and if necessary make recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with vendors and internal/external customers.

  • Meet with customers and contractors to clarify and resolve work-related challenges and requests.

  • Attend and participate in weekly/bi-weekly progress meetings with vendors.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.

  • Three (3) years or more of experience in construction/landscape maintenance, contract-applicable construction trades, or in a field providing technical supervisory services to construction/landscape maintenance contractors.

  • -OR- College or university-level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction/maintenance experience.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

    Physical Demands: m ay occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years
