Sarasota County Government Administrative Specialist II in Sarasota, Florida

As the Administrative Specialist you will perform administrative tasks to support the UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability Sarasota County office, the Sarasota and Manatee River Soil and Water Conservation Districts. As an employee with UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County you will be responsible for implementation of programs administered by the University of Florida and will work cooperatively with the University of Florida.

Administrative Support for UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability Sarasota County

  • Provide general administrative support for Extension staff.

  • Coordinate responses to administrative and program support requests from staff in collaboration with Operations Manager.

  • Provide back-up support for other Admin team staff, including for the Financial Specialist and Administrative Specialist I position.

  • Assist with project and event coordination as assigned.

  • Promote office-wide programming by updating various online community calendars.

  • Serve as department lead on employee recognition efforts. Track and highlight accomplishments made by the office or individual staff by updating the Wall of Fame and online testimonials with feedback from stakeholders and community members. Oversee peer recognition award, employee appreciation efforts, and other strategies as identified.

  • Serve as a lead on assigned county-wide committees.

  • Assist staff in the creation and maintenance of their program evaluation surveys; meet with staff as needed and update surveys annually.

  • Create, maintain, and evaluate results from department-level surveys.

Support for Sarasota and Manatee River Soil and Water Conservation Districts

  • Support monthly board meetings and annual working group, including announcements, invitations to special guests, coordination of agendas, attend and record meeting minutes, routing of draft and approved minutes.

  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of annual events.

  • Support budget preparation and financial reporting. Assist with filing and record retention.

    E-Work/Hybrid Work: Currently this position is eligible to e-work up to 2 days per week! After you complete your first six months, contingent on work requirements and other factors, you’ll be eligible for this fantastic benefit.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Employee will sometimes need to work evenings and weekend days.

About You

To thrive in this position, you must have-

  • A High School Diploma or GED with 2 to 5 years of administrative/clerical and computer experience.

  • Once year of college may substitute for one year of experience.

Starting Pay Range: Starting Pay Range: $21.63 - $22.50 based on experience.
