What You Will Do

As the Manager for Global Raw Materials Governance for Skin Health, Essential Health, and Self Care you will be responsible to manage the Chemicals Portfolio with proactive and reactive initiatives to constantly minimize portfolio complexity and improve the discipline in raw material and supplier selection. You will lead the New Raw Material Governance process to ensure the optimal specification and supplier assessment, raw material qualification and robust supply chain plans are in place for new and leveraged Raw Materials.

You will lead initiatives to bring simplification, portfolio optimization (Basket of Materials updates) and improvements to the strategic, technical and compliance information related to the raw materials.

You will collaborate with the Product Resiliency team to ensure that Materials related initiatives are completed and addressed in the Raw Materials System.

Your responsibilities will encompass managing the global and cross franchise process, coaching the regional portfolio scientists, developing, and reporting metrics, and continuously improving the process. Additionally, you lead other R&D projects as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and People Management

  • Lead and manage the Portfolio Management team of 4 indirect reports.

  • Foster clear and effective communication channels with stakeholders at all levels (Source, Product Resilience, Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality).

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, both in processes and products.

  • Develop and implement work processes and communications strategies to enhance team efficiency.

  • Strong participation and Leadership on the Materials Leadership Team

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee global management of Raw Materials Governance Process (RM Assessment, RM Steer Co and RM Qualifications/Extensions)

  • Lead global management of Raw Materials Steer Co Meetings for Skin Health/Essential Health and Self Care by engaging key decision makers and ensuring relevant data is presented to define decision and actions needed.

  • Develop and Report and Meet Metrics quarterly.

  • Represent Materials in Product Resiliency Forums and Workstreams. Lead initiatives related to Raw Materials concerning priority ingredients.

  • Work in collaboration with Flavor & Fragrance initiatives to support optimization of portfolio.

  • Lead additional projects as appropriate.

Project Management

  • Coordinate cross functional team and monitor activities closely.

  • Establish and manage agendas and actions from meetings.

  • Facilitate global communication regarding Governance and other projects progress and milestones.

  • Proactively manage issues and establish action plans to mitigate risks.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in sciences, Engineering, or Pharmacy is required. Doctorate (PhD) or Equivalent is a differential

  • 6 years of experience in Research and Development

  • Proved capability to communicate clearly and influence at senior levels of the organization.

  • Has partnered with internal/external resources to drive delivery.

  • Demonstrated success in working cross-functionally and in a matrixed organization.

  • Demonstrated leadership in leading and working in a cross-functional team is required.

  • Communicating priorities and vision will be essential to engage followership.
