Google Customer Engineer, VMware, Google Cloud (English, Spanish) in Santiago, Chile

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.

  • Experience architecting solutions with VMware technologies, sizing and costing for VMware in cloud solutions.

  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently in order to interact in this client-facing role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in VMware whiteboard design.

  • Experience as an IT infrastructure consultant or enterprise architect working in data center investment strategies and proposals.

  • Experience with deployment methodologies and technologies (e.g., CI/CD, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.).

  • Experience with Linux system administration and Enterprise applications.

  • Experience in networking (i.e., Linux, software-defined networking, network virtualization, open protocols, application acceleration and load balancing, DNS, virtual private networks) and their application to PaaS and IaaS technologies.

You listen and deliver what is most helpful for the customer. You assist fellow sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for our customers. You liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

As a Customer Engineer specialized in VMware, you will support Google Cloud Sales teams and drive goal, mission, and strategy around VMware solutions. You will meet with customers to facilitate business transformation, map success patterns, and publish assets to scale knowledge and support further customer success.

In this role, you will identify and analyze industry trends that focus on VMware to recommend, plan for, and address core market opportunities with new solutions and use cases. You will enable the Sales team and counsel partners on the best way to position VMware on Google Cloud solutions, explain technical features, and problem-solve potential roadblocks on Google Cloud.

  • Contribute to the technical evaluation process with Google’s customers for VMware-as-a-Service (VMware-aaS) technical business cycles, managing product/solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of technical resources.

  • Assist the Sales teams in technical qualification of new opportunities for VMware-aaS on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), identifying key customer technical objections and developing technical solution strategies. Support Sales teams when deploying VMware applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Recommend, demonstrate, and prototype VMware-aaS on GCP solutions in customer environments, using best practices for VMware-aaS on Google Cloud.

  • Assist the VMware-aaS Go-to-Market (GTM) team with regional delivery of field-enablement for VMware-aaS on GCP solutions.

  • Assist the Infrastructure Modernization Solutions Management team, contributing to solution and use case specific assets. Travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites, conferences, marketing events, and other VMware ecosystem related events.
