COUNTY OF SONOMA Natural Resources Park Program Supervisor in Santa Rosa, California

Multiple positions are currently available!The Natural Resources Park Program Supervisor position is a great opportunity for a passionate professional with natural resources experience to join a growing Natural Resources division and help facilitate ecosystem resilience for over 12,000 acres of park land. Currently, the Regional Parks Department is recruiting to fill two regular Natural Resources Park Program Supervisor positions (one dedicated to overseeing a grazing program and the other dedicated to a forest management program) and one temporary Extra-Help position dedicated to grant writing and managing grant-funded projects.These positions supervise and direct the work of staff engaged in monitoring, stewardship, and restoration activities. Additionally, Natural Resources Park Program Supervisors:Facilitate the expansion programs for fuels reduction/prescribed fire, prescribed grazing, and vegetation and wildlife managementManage complex restoration projectsEstablish and maintains effective working relationships with other governmental agencies, community groups, schools, staff, and private businessesRespond to the public's questions and inquiries regarding natural resource management issues and assists in delivering natural resource and outdoor recreation programsAssist in supporting web site content and materials for department promotional and communication activitiesiOversee staff engaged in natural resource stewardshipAssist the Natural Resources Manager in the pursuit of grants and other special funding avenues for park programsThe ideal candidates will possess:Significant work experience in the field of vegetation management, such as rangeland management, prescribed herbivory, public lands grazing and/or forestry management, and fuels reduction and/or certification as a Rangeland Manager or Register Professional Forester or the interest, experience, and coursework to become certified within three yearsiSubstantial experience in project management including management of grant-funded projectsiExtensive grant writing experience and success at securing grant funding and managing grant funded projectsTraining as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2)iiand experience and training with prescribed fire techniques, including of burn plan development and site preparation strategiesExperience supervising staff engaged in natural resource stewardshipiExceptional written and verbal communication skillsThe County of Sonoma's Regional Parks include more than 50 parks, trails, and beaches fromiPetalumaitoiGualalaiand Sonoma to Bodega Bay.
