There is currently an opening for an Associate Quality Engineer or Engineer Quality to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position falls under one of Northrop Grumman's Small Business Units, Sonoma Photonics, Inc. and will be located onsite in Santa Rosa, CA

Roles and Responsibilities: Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Work will be conducted in both an office and lab/manufacturing environment with various temperatures and possible exposure to chemicals.

This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Quality Engineer or Engineer Quality

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate Quality Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master of Science (MS) in a relevant STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience

  • Engineer Quality: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master of Science (MS) in a relevant STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience

  • Experience with statistical methods and analysis

  • Ability to clearly present and communicate ideas, concepts, and plans

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (PAR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with thin film optical materials and thin film characterization techniques

  • Active DoD Security clearance

  • Ability to model complex systems

Salary Range: $65,600 - $98,400

Salary Range 2: $79,300 - $118,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
