Amazon Sr Marketing Manager, AWS Industry Marketing - Media & Entertainment, Games, and Sports in Santa Monica, California

The AWS industry marketing team is seeking a customer and events marketing manager to spearhead the development and execution of our customer and events marketing strategy aligned to the overall global media & entertainment, games, and sports industry strategy.

This role will include traditional event planning and execution for our most important events, such as NAB, GDC, IBC, Cannes Lions, and various AWS Summits, as well as other events. This role owns speaker nominations, speaker prep, booth story and design, customer engagement activities, tracking of metrics, and reporting to internal teams. In addition, the person in this role will be expected to build a speaker bench of both internal and external speakers aligned to the marketing strategy and lead submitting speakers for leading industry events.

The person in this role will partner with internal teams such as product marketing, field marketing, business development, solutions architecture, sales, and digital marketing, as well as external agencies to deliver a bar-raising experience for our prospects and customers. To be successful in this role, you will need to utilize exceptional project management skills to manage pre-event communication, event planning, and post-event follow-up to optimize lead generation opportunities. This highly motivated and extremely organized candidate must have experience planning complex in-person events, managing projects happening concurrently, possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable working with both internal and external customers at all levels, and have experience working with global stakeholders. This person will need to work effectively within a small team and think strategically, while also rolling up their sleeves and getting stuff done – no detail will be too small and they'll never say "that's not my job". They’ll obsess over details, display poise and sophistication in fast-moving situations, embrace ambiguity, and deliver results.

Key job responsibilities

• Strategic Event Planning and Execution: Develop and maintain an events roadmap that integrates seamlessly with marketing and organizational goals.

• Project Management: Oversee all aspects of event planning and management, including budgeting, timelines, and logistics (in conjunction with the 3P team when 3P is involved).

• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and leadership, ensuring clear and effective communication.

• Tactical Excellence: Maintain an acute attention to detail while managing the broad strategic vision, ensuring flawless execution of event-related activities.

• Data-Driven Reporting: Deliver comprehensive post-event reports, offering a data-driven analysis of opportunities developed and influenced. This includes attribution analysis to understand the impact of each event on lead generation and conversion.

• Materials Packaging: Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of event materials, ensuring they are of high quality, align with brand standards.

• Continuous Improvement: Utilize feedback and analytics to recommend and implement improvements for future events, aiming for innovation in how we present our brand and engage with our audience.

• Customer Advocacy: Deliver relevant case studies in various formats for use by marketing and sales; align with stakeholders on needs; guide customer speakers; write, gain approval, and track submissions of abstracts for calls for speakers; maintain relationships with organizations to position AWS preferred customer speakers at events.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience creating and executing strategic events large and small

  • Experience building, executing, and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience developing thought leadership strategy, building a bench of speakers, and executing key thought leadership motions

  • Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements

  • Experience presenting metrics and progress to goal to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving innovative brand presence at large B2B trade shows

  • Work history in a (global) tech company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
