Providence Medical Laboratory Scientist in Santa Monica, California

POSITION: Medical Technologists (Multiple positions)

WORK LOCATION: 2121 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, California 90404

Description

  • Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director of the Laboratory, perform accurate analysis of laboratory specimens.

  • Perform specimen analyses in assigned section of the Laboratory related to Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Immunochemistry, and/or Microbiology

  • Complete daily departmental CQI; preventive maintenance, and adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument, and procedural calibrations.

  • Prepare reagents and coordinating department supplies as needed.

  • Maintain records of test results and department statistics.

  • Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance.

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.

  • Ensure compliance with licensing and accrediting standards.

  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and correct problems or immediately notify a general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or the director.

  • Keep current with regulations and technical/clinical information related to their section of the laboratory and ensure compliance with them in a timely manner.

  • Provide orientation to testing staff and annually evaluate & document the performance of testing staff.

  • Maintain records to meet licensing & accrediting requirements of all appropriate regulatory agencies.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Physics, Biology, or a related life science discipline

  • Five years experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or related

  • Three years of hospital laboratory experience involving procedures in Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, and Urinalysis

  • Experience training and supervising laboratory staff

  • Current California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License

Pay Range: $45.66-$72.27 per hour
