Job Description

Summary of Duties:

• Supervise all employees in the Shipping department plan work assignments, schedule daily activities and overtime needs to ensure sufficient support for shipments during both the day and night shift

• Supervise the delivery of raw materials, supplies, tools, and finished goods to local and international Zodiac Aerospace facilities.

• Supervise the transportation of raw materials, supplies, tools, and finished goods between the home facility and any local warehouses.

• Determine the best method of delivery based on urgency, type of material, destination, size of package(s), cost of transport, secure the appropriate carrier, and schedule outgoing shipments

• Monitor and track the delivery status of outgoing shipments and take appropriate actions if delays or issues arise.

• Assist the Shipping Department with packaging and staging of deliveries.

• Understand and follow procedures and practices established by process specifications.

• Understand quality guidelines, and quality reporting procedures.

• Understand basic shop practices.

• Understand safety guidelines, regulations, and specifications.

• Occasionally read and interpret Engineering Drawings and Blueprints, and other specifications relating to proper identification of shipments, and/or additional shipping requirements.

• Responsible for continuous improvements in the functional areas of responsibility.

• Provides leadership by promoting team concepts, coaching, counseling, retaining, mentoring, training, talent management, and individual development. Drives a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management.

• Evaluate current processes and recommend improvements

• Adhere to the established communication protocol, including the promotion of regular conference calls, WebEx, and meetings to communicate and/or evaluate current performance and improvement plans.

• Monitors and tracks staff performance against organizational objectives.

• Must be capable of all duties associated with Shipping Clerk.

• Some traveling may be required from time to time.

• On-call, Protracted, or irregular hours may be required.

Complementary Description

Job Summary:

The Shipping Supervisor will manage the daily Shipping activities for a Facility. Verify and keeps records of all shipments and ensure the accurate preparation of items for shipment. This position reports to Shipping Manager or Logistics Manager. Leads and directs the work of employees and identifies daily team activities. May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise. Assist with management decisions and activities related to hiring, performance and/or disciplinary action. Working knowledge of team function within the organization.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: Associates degree or equivalent additional experience (+ 2 years)

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of shipping experience.

Computer Skills:

• Experience working with MRP/ERP systems

• Proficiency with MS Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook)

Other Skills:

• Broad knowledge of the field with proven management skills.

• Effective oral and written communications skills

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with attention to detail

• Problem solving, well organized, detailed oriented and accurate.

• Strong written and verbal business communications abilities, must be comfortable delivering information to all levels of the organization including senior leadership.

• Working knowledge of business finance skills and abilities.

Additional Preferred Skills: (not required)

• BS/BA

• Dangerous Goods certification

• 1 year of leadership experience

• Continuous Improvement skills (Six Sigma Green Belt, etc.…)

• Experience working with aviation manufacturing components including FAA standards and regulations

Traveling may be required.

Salary: $41,730 - $70,620.
