Job Description

Salary range for position: $105,000 - $135,000, commensurate with experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop and improve MEMS wafer fab and assembly processes, focusing specifically on quality and yield improvement. Identify and investigate design/process/equipment issues that limit wafer yield. Manage production yield and quality improvement projects, including; data analysis; model generation; experimentation; and propose resolution.

KNOWLEDGE: A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.

JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

SUPERVISION: Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD or equivalent experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Improve wafer fab yield and device performance of advanced MEMS devices during all phases of product life cycle including process development, production ramp, and high-volume manufacturing.

  • Assist and engage in NPI (New Product Introduction) to reduce time to yield using various engineering activities.

  • Use data driven and statistical analysis approach to analyze and improve product performance. Periodically report and present performance metrics to key stakeholders.

  • Organize and lead the team to address the root cause, take corrective actions, and propose preventive actions in an event of excursions or quality incident

  • Assist in investigating non-conformances, determines root cause and assign CAPA with production or development team.

  • Work with product development teams to transfer design into manufacture with good quality assurance (DFSS: Design for Six Sigma).

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • D, Master, or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Material Engineering.

  • Knowledge in design, fabrication and testing of MEMS devices or semiconductor products. Understand the basic micro-fabrication technologies such as photolithograph, etching, and thin film deposition. Understand basic analysis metrologies such as SEM, EDS, Raman, FTIR, Auger, or FIB.

  • Have extensive knowledge and experience on quality control and assurance under high volume production environment. Understand the quality assurance concepts, tools, and industry standards. Such as QC 7 tools, FMEA, Six Sigma, and other quality tools.

  • Have basic statistic knowledge and skills; understand how to use statistic tools and methods, such as Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, SPC, and DOE, to guide and monitor the process.

  • Sound understanding of Quality Systems (such as ISO9001, ISO14001, TS16949)

  • Knowledge and exposure to various Quality Tools such as PDCA, control of change, control of nonconforming, and continuous improvement (CAPA)/FMEA/8D

  • Demonstrated project management skills, can set a target and lead a team to achieve the goals by assigning the task, tracking the progress, controlling the timeline, and encourage the team members. The projects include solving a quality problem, improving yield, or building up a quality sub-system.

  • Proficient in data analytics tools (JMP, Tableau, Minitab) and sound in statistical approaches and concepts for troubleshooting and problem solving

DESIRED:

  • Knowledge in MEMS especially in piezoelectric resonators, sensors, or actuators will be desired.

  • Thin film material processing and characterization; failure analysis and device integration. Experience or skills on MEMS or semiconductor processing will be a plus, such as photolithography patterning; PVD, including metal deposition and ceramic sputtering; Si or ceramic dry etching (DRIE); wet etching; wafer bonding, or AutoCAD software for mask design.

  • Familiar with some statistic software and programming skills will be desired. Such as Minitab, SAS, or Microsoft Macro.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt and ISO9001 internal auditor certification will be a plus.
