Power Over Ethernet Expert

Job Description

We seek a highly skilled Embedded Power Supply (1KW) and Power over Ethernet (PoE) Expert with a strong emphasis on Ethernet Alliance certification and in-depth knowledge of IEEE specifications. We look for someone adept at ensuring products achieve and maintain Ethernet Alliance PoE certification and meet meticulous reliability and interoperability standards.

Core Responsibilities

Design and Architecture:

• Design innovative, highly efficient, and reliable embedded power supplies, meeting industry and safety standards (e.g., UL, CE) while an authority with understanding of analog and digital power electronic circuits, control topologies (flyback, buck/boost, etc.), and magnetic component design.

• Lead the development of robust PoE power sourcing equipment (PSE) and powered devices (PD), demonstrating in-depth expertise in IEEE 802.3 standards (802.3af/at/bt) and the PoE Certification Program.

• Define specifications, select components, and meticulously design power delivery circuits with the Ethernet Alliance certification in mind.

• We look for authority in PCB layout and design, with outstanding EDA tools to manage and execute the Ethernet Alliance PoE Certification process for new and existing products.

• Develop and maintain critical awareness of Ethernet Alliance test plans, procedures, and requirements and collaborate with multi-functional teams (hardware, firmware, mechanical) for seamless integration of power solutions, promoting design-for-compliance practices.

• Troubleshoot, analyze, and implement modifications for addressing discrepancies or gaps identified during the certification process. while you will act and perform as the internal subject matter expert on embedded power, PoE standards and the Ethernet Alliance PoE Certification.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field. Master's Degree is preferred with 7 years of experience in embedded power supply design, including a demonstrated track record with Power over Ethernet devices.

• Deep understanding of IEEE standards (especially IEEE 802.3 series) and experience interpreting regulatory requirements with hands-on experience with Ethernet Alliance PoE certification processes and test plans!

• Proficiency in power circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, PSpice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink) and EDA layout tools.

• We require expert knowledge in PCB layout and design, with authoritative knowledge of industry-standard EDA tools and strong understanding of EMI/EMC countermeasures and compliance testing.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with embedded systems (microcontrollers, DSPs).

Experience with product safety and regulatory certifications (UL, CE, etc.).

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills!

Pay Transparency

Capgemini discloses salary range information in compliance with state and local pay transparency obligations. The range represents the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting, although we may ultimately pay more or less than the disclosed range, and the range may be modified in the future. The indicated range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, geographic location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. At Capgemini, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. The base salary range for the tagged location is $97,700 - $203,800.

This role may be eligible for other compensation including variable compensation, bonus, or commission. Full time regular employees are eligible for paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
