Applied Materials Director of Marketing and Business Development in Santa Clara, California

About the role: The Applied Materials CTO Director of Marketing & Business Development is a marketing role to drive strategy and program activities for key growth programs within Applied Materials. The Director of Marketing & Business Development identifies and analyzes market trends, defines business and product strategy, develops program requirements, and develops the project execution plan. The ideal candidate has a strong mix of strategic marketing, business development, and leadership skills & experience. The successful candidate will have a strong strategic marketing toolbox and a strong understanding of marketing best practices.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in deep tech and associated applications in fields such as advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, photonics, quantum computing, biotechnology, green energy, superconductivity, etc. The Marketing Director will be adept at applying high-tech industry best practices to deep tech innovation efforts. The individual should have a strong personal network within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop market and economics analysis of industry needs and trends.
· Identify and develop collaboration and alliance opportunities (e.g.: Joint ventures, acquisitions, cooperative development, and technology licenses)
· Structure, negotiate and implement alliance transactions to achieve Applied's objectives within acceptable risk parameters.
· Identify issues representing opportunities or threats of strategic importance.
· Develop and implement methodologies to achieve consensus for actions needed.
· Develop a project plan to execute growth opportunities.
Functional & Business Knowledge
· Demonstrated strategic marketing toolbox (market segmentation & analysis, product strategy, value proposition, competitive analysis, and scorecards, etc)
· Knowledge and understanding of one or more deep tech fields.
· Influences internal/external business and/or regulatory issues that have an impact on the business; provides thought leadership for programs and initiatives.
· Strong communication skills; demonstrated program management and strategic leadership abilities.
· Ability to lead highly visible multidisciplinary project teams or initiatives.
Requirements
· 7-10 yrs of experience in the Electronics Industry; technology, marketing, and/or business development roles.
· BS (or advanced degree) in science and/or engineering.
· MBA preferred and highly desirable.
· US work permit.

U.S. Salary Range:
$184,000.00 - $253,000.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
