Clean Harbors Refinery General Manager in Sanford, North Carolina

Clean Harbors is looking for a Refinery General Manager to join our safety conscious team! The Refinery General Manager is responsible for leadership of the operations of used oil re-refining process including associated tank farms and plant utilities functions. Main point of contact between shipping/receiving, maintenance and laboratory groups. Ensures health and safety (H&S), quality and environment and production goals are meet. Manages operating expenditures to stay within budget. Builds high performing operations teams, mentoring, training and providing resources to support those teams. Assures that all company and site-specific processes and procedures are followed

  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, evaluation and discipline of staff.

  • Ensures process operation within safe operating limits, compliance with all regulatory, permit and corporate EH&S requirements and ISO quality standards.

  • Oversee and participate in ongoing preparation, revision and approval of standard operating procedures (SOP's) for refinery.

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering/mechanical engineering is required.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • P&L experience.

  • Experience in refining environment.

  • Operational experience.

  • Able to maintain accuracy of system and report information.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Time management skills.

  • Prior leadership/management experience.

  • Financial analysis experience.

  • Business planning and strategy experience.

  • Technical knowledge.

  • Ability to travel 10%-25%.
