GKN Automotive Logistics Manager in Sanford, North Carolina

This position will be located in Fort Worth, Texas.

Role purpose

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the primary function of this role is to provide leadership to shift internal transport teams and goods in and shipping staff; and to provide internal transport solutions to all Despatch, Assembly and Machining Functions. Responsible for one site or small country.

Key responsibilities

Operations Management

Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area. Involves using existing systems and protocols.

Transport

Manage on a day-to-day basis the transportation of goods and supplies using existing procedures; review and recommend improvements to procedures to ensure on-time delivery of goods and supplies.

Incoming Goods

Manage a medium-size and medium-complexity warehouse and stores using existing procedures and develop new procedures when required to ensure all goods and supplies are stored and recorded appropriately.

Health, Safety and Environment

Follow the organization's Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

Work Scheduling and Allocation

Develop short- or medium-term work schedules in order to achieve planned commitments. Approve overtime or use additional resources as needed.

Performance Management

Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance. OR Monitor the performance of the team; allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality; contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.

Operational Compliance

Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Document Preparation

Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.

Document Management

Create and ensure compliance with a company wide document management system.

Stakeholder Engagement

Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote stakeholder understanding and commitment.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements.

Outgoing goods

Develop an understanding of packaging needs and ideas for prototypes to support the packaging process.

Inventory

Manage inventory for a major site or large factory following existing procedures to identify any issues and solve problems.

Inventory Control

Carry out a range of inventory control activities, either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.

Explain the local action plan to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done, and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organization's strategy, mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.

Education
