General Summary:

A Nurse Practitioner is a mid-level practitioner who is able to provide healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. A Nurse Practitioner is able to obtain pertinent historical information, perform a focused or detailed examination, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans for patients. With a valid Certificate to Prescribe, A Nurse Practitioner is also able to prescribe medication up through schedule II-V. What you will do:

  1. Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.2. Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition.3. Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.4. Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.5. Make diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.6. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.7. Order of inventory medical and laboratory supplies and equipment.8. Perform injections for both analgesic and therapeutic purposes.9. Perform minor surgical procedures in an office setting, such as superficial lesion or foreign body removal, punch or excision biopsies.10. Perform therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, phlebotomy, suturing and wound care, and infection management.11. Prescribe therapy or medication.12. Provide physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.13. Supervise and coordinate activities of nurses and medical assistants. What you will need: Master’s Level prepared Certified Nurse Practitioner in an area consistent with the population to be serviced. Current Nurse Practitioner license in good standing. Minimum of two years prior experience preferred. Strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Nurse Practitioner must possess or be eligible for a DEA number and eligible for credentialing.Ability to understand and effectively communicate in both written and oral form.Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform complex arithmetic and financial applications.Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes.
