What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for monitoring patient cardiac rhythms, obtaining and accurately analyzing rhythm strips on telemetry patients and notifying nursing of all changes; assisting and performing and organizing the necessary materials needed to maintain the medical record of the patient.

  • Print and analyze rhythm strips and place in patient’s chart each shift; alert nursing personnel of rhythm changes or new occurrences and obtain a graphic tracing for each.

  • Accountable for alarm limit settings on the monitors.

  • Follow policies for placing telemetry leads on patients; troubleshoot any telemetry problems.

  • Perform clerical duties related to admission and discharge of patients.

  • Answer telephone and intercom, take messages and communicate information to appropriate person; call and follow-up with consultants.

  • Assist visitors on the nursing units.

  • Assist with staff/patient education.

    What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Paramedic-certified applicant highly preferred.

  • Basic EKG course and experience with cardiac monitor interpretation including knowledge of paced rhythms or basic and advanced EKG courses. ACLS preferred. Must have medical terminology. Computer experience required.
