What You Will Do:
Responsible for monitoring patient cardiac rhythms, obtaining and accurately analyzing rhythm strips on telemetry patients and notifying nursing of all changes; assisting and performing and organizing the necessary materials needed to maintain the medical record of the patient.
Print and analyze rhythm strips and place in patient’s chart each shift; alert nursing personnel of rhythm changes or new occurrences and obtain a graphic tracing for each.
Accountable for alarm limit settings on the monitors.
Follow policies for placing telemetry leads on patients; troubleshoot any telemetry problems.
Perform clerical duties related to admission and discharge of patients.
Answer telephone and intercom, take messages and communicate information to appropriate person; call and follow-up with consultants.
Assist visitors on the nursing units.
Assist with staff/patient education.
What You Will Need:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Paramedic-certified applicant highly preferred.
Basic EKG course and experience with cardiac monitor interpretation including knowledge of paced rhythms or basic and advanced EKG courses. ACLS preferred. Must have medical terminology. Computer experience required.
