Valent BioSciences Vice President of Sustainable Solutions - Valent U.S.A. , LLC in San Ramon, California

Valent USA is looking for a Vice President of Sustainable Solutions either remotely or based out of our home office in San Ramon, CA.

General Description:

The purpose of this position is to lead the corporate and commercial sustainability vision, strategy, and initiatives across North America. Develop the long-term vision in alignment with Sumitomo Chemical direction and create regional strategies to support our sustainability goals and generate industry awareness and support for the Valent portfolio and the benefits to people, planet, and productivity. Closely collaborate with the marketing team to evaluate opportunities and develop strategies to create downstream demand based on portfolio fit and grower solutions. Collaborate with the VP, Agricultural Sales, Business Manager Valent Canada, and the General Director of Valent de Mexico to create a healthy balance of channel strategy and key grower engagement to deliver on product and share growth targets. Collaborate with the Senior Director, Field Technology to foster cross-functional collaboration between commercial and technical talent. Responsible for the development of sales incentive plans and targets to promote Valent Sustainable Solutions. Interact with Sumitomo Chemical and support global initiatives.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Attain or exceed annual defined revenue and profit targets linked to the Valent Sustainable Solutions portfolio. Contribute to plans that support the working capital objectives established by VUSA leadership in collaboration with Sumitomo Chemical.

  • Serves on the global SSBU team directed by Valent BioSciences with global colleagues.

  • Direct and guide the sustainable solutions portfolio plans and sustainability initiatives across North America through Valent USA, Valent Canada, and Valent de Mexico.

  • Lead and coach the Valent Sustainable Solutions Sales Manager and the 13 Sustainable Solutions Sales Specialists.

  • Lead the cross-function teams responsible for delivering on the corporate and commercial sustainability goals that establish Valent as a leader in sustainable ag in N.A.

  • Work with cross-function teams, like the Strategic Leadership Team, Customer Committee, and CORE Team, establish priorities and policies for commercial direction, new product development, customer satisfaction, and market positioning. Work with the same teams to proactively resolve issues and foster a culture of agility within the compliance and accountability frameworks.

  • Manage group operating expenses in accordance with annual plan with adjustments in season based on financial performance and market opportunities.

  • Closely manage assigned resources and program dollars to optimize financial results and provide updates on exposures and investment costs during the regulator forecasting process.

  • Serve as the champion for biorational and botanical product growth in alignment with SCC, VBC, and MGK global strategies and through the regional strategies from the Commercial Sustainability Team.

  • Engage the sustainability team monthly to review YTD goal tracking, transparency in objectives, capture internal/external feedback, and provide direction to accomplish department goals.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans for vertically integrated and corporate farms that influence key segments or represent significant market share through the corporate farm managers.

  • Align with the VP, Agricultural Sales to design team targets and incentives that support the organization direction and growth through the balance of push/pull with the Sustainable Solutions portfolio.

  • Constantly evaluate structure and go to market strategy to provide the best utilization of assigned resources and maximum impact with strategic accounts.

  • Serve as a key member of the Valent USA Strategic Leadership Team by interacting in cross functional leadership, monthly goal tracking, quarterly assessments, and annual planning with commercial counterparts.

  • Support the Valent core values and the Sumitomo Chemical Company behaviors to foster a healthy and productive environment that drives sustainable growth in N.A.

  • Identify, recruit, develop and retain top industry talent.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in business administration, agricultural related science or equivalent. MBA or equivalent preferred.

  • 15 years related experience; 10+ years of progressive management experience related to commercial and customer planning.

  • Leadership experience related to sustainability strategies and biological solutions.

  • Leadership, building and maintaining relationships, initiative, persuasion and negotiation skills, integrity, problem solving, forecasting, strategic and financial planning, and analyzing, coaching and counseling, oral, written, and group communications skills, strong computer skills.

  • Ability to engage and influence across function teams and company lines to optimize results on an integrated portfolio with various stakeholders.

  • Approximately 65% travel.
