We have a 5+ month contract for a Project Manager (CMS Implementation) in San Mateo, CA.

Job Summary:

The Contract Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of web and digital product projects with a strong focus on implementing content management systems (CMS) for web development. This role requires deep expertise in CMS platforms, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all projects meet business requirements, timelines, and budgets. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering content management solutions that drive digital product development and content deployment. In addition, it is important for candidates to have experience managing website and digital web application development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Strategy:

  • Lead project planning, defining scope, deliverables, and timelines for website and digital content initiatives, with a focus on CMS platform integration.

  • Develop project roadmaps that align business objectives with CMS capabilities, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

CMS Implementation & Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end implementation of content management platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Adobe Experience Manager) to support web development and digital content workflows.

  • Collaborate with development teams to customize and integrate CMS solutions that meet the specific needs of the business, ensuring ease of content updates and scalability.

Project Execution & Leadership:

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of web and digital projects, from design and development through testing, deployment, and post-launch.

  • Lead cross-functional teams (including developers, content creators, and marketing teams) to ensure seamless integration of CMS with other digital systems and products.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as the key liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication on CMS implementation progress, project goals, timelines, and risks.

  • Provide regular project status updates and dashboards to senior leadership and project stakeholders.

Quality Assurance & Deployment:

  • Ensure thorough quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT) processes for all CMS-integrated web projects.

  • Manage deployment activities, ensuring successful go-live and post-launch support, including documentation, training, and ongoing maintenance of the CMS.

Risk & Issue Management:

  • Identify potential risks related to CMS implementation and integration, developing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.

  • Resolve issues that may impact timelines, quality, or budget in a timely and efficient manner.

Optimization & Performance:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of CMS-driven web projects.

  • Continuously optimize CMS workflows and processes to improve content management, site performance, and digital product efficiency.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Project Management, or a related field; PMP certification is a plus.

  • 7+ years of experience managing web development projects, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience implementing and managing CMS platforms.

  • Proven track record of leading large-scale CMS integration projects, ensuring smooth content deployment and management.

Technical & CMS Expertise:

  • strong expertise in content management platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Adobe Experience Manager) and their integration with web development workflows.

  • Solid understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and digital product development.

  • Proficiency in project management tools like Jira, Trello, or MS Project, and experience with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies.

Leadership & Communication Skills:

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage direct and indirect reports.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts related to CMS into clear, actionable tasks for non-technical stakeholders.

Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:

  • strong problem-solving abilities to handle challenges during CMS implementation and web development projects.

  • Ability to anticipate and mitigate risks, keeping projects on time and within scope.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field. Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus
