Bachelor’s degree and five years’ progressively responsible experience in higher education
Experience supporting and/or leading transfer and prospective student programming or initiatives
Ability to analyze data to guide decision-making
Effective leadership experience with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
Experience working with a varied body of students, staff, and faculty
Excellent oral and written communication skills
At least 3 years of experience managing full-time staff
Experience in coordinating academic and curricula pathways
Understanding of the community college setting and state legislation related to transfer
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or terminal degree
Experience in academic advising or related service
Experience developing and implementing new programs
Experience in developing and maintaining technology that supports student academic success
Job Description
The Director of Transfer Initiatives will provide leadership for projects and initiatives that support and improve transfer student success. The Director will work collaboratively with leadership across the university, such as the Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Admissions, Academic Advising, and colleges and departments, to establish strategic institutional priorities related to transfer students. The Director will develop and implement strategic, data-informed transfer student success initiatives; review and revise transfer-related policies; develop new transfer pathways and clarify existing ones; and work with internal and external partners to facilitate transfer student transition and engagement.
Job Duties
Collaborate with campus personnel to design, develop, and implement transfer initiatives, programs, policies, and technology tools that support the academic success of transfer students.
Collaborate with partner institutions in the development and maintenance of transfer-related initiatives, programs, policies, and technology tools.
Work collaboratively with appropriate partners, oversee the development and maintenance of transfer guides, recommended course sequences, and degree maps.
Review and revise transfer practices and policies to ensure equitable student outcomes.
Collect, analyze, and report data to inform and improve the how transfer practices, procedures, and policies impact student success.
Collaborate with New Student Orientation and other transition programs to support transfer to the institution.
Engage the campus community in conversations regarding the acquisition, creation, and/or development of technology to assist in efficient and informative transfer process (e.g., transfer equivalency technology).
Supervise staff, including three full-time Transfer Navigators, and manage the operations of the center.
Assist in other projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Advising & Transitions.
Perform necessary duties to represent the TXST Transfer Center at the local, regional, and national level.
Other duties as assigned.
